Textured Lighting

Happy Hump Day! Today we’re exploring the many facets of lighting and it’s impact on a room. With proper lighting, you can achieve functionality and style within your space. Here are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind when selecting the right lighting:

1. Color Management: The use of light in a space can either darken or lighten a space. As many of us know, the rule of thumb, when designing a room is darker colors shrink the room and bright & light keeps it open and airy. Always keep in mind that color and light have the power to create illusions.

2. Functionality: Lighting needs to be purposeful not wasteful. Consider the type of lighting you want to ensure you get the best directional lighting. Task lighting, for example, is used within desk lamps, side table lighting or lamps placed near a reading chair.

3. When to use what: Accent lighting is used in a lot of living room settings to focus on an architectural element, such as a fireplace or sculpture. Uplighting placed on the floor may be used as accent lighting for a plant, while track lighting may be used as accent lighting for artwork.
